In-House Label Production: Custom Labels, RFID & Security Tag Embedding

ALS has been manufacturing labels from its own production facility for nearly 30 years, offering a capability that extends well beyond standard label printing. From plain shipping labels to complex multi-layered constructions, specialist substrates, UV inks, and a full range of adhesive specifications, our in-house team handles design through to finished roll. We are particularly experienced in embedding EAS security tags and RFID inlays into label constructions — a technically demanding process that requires the elaborate anti-static controls we have developed and refined over decades of production. FSC-approved base materials are standard, and white-label contract services are available to other UK label printers.

We will take your design or concept and make it reality.  From plain rectangular shipping labels to complex, multi-layered constructions, clever perforations or specialised substrates, UV inks or digital print and a range of adhesives.

Our base materials come from the industry leaders and paper-based materials and liners are all FSC approved.

We print, convert and slit down in-house with a small team that benefits from our own in-house engineering support from our machinery division to keep us up and running.

We are specialists in embedding EAS security tags (EM, RF and AM) and RFID inlays, sandwiched between the top over-label and the backing liner.  Our services are offered direct to end-users but also to other UK label printers who send us their fabulously printed but unfinished (non-die-cut) printed master rolls (up to 600mm OD), printed multi-across, and we will strip back the liner, insert an RFID label or security tag, in a specific place, re-laminate the backing liner and die-cut the material into waste-stripped labels, slit down into single rolls for their end-users to use on their automatic labelling machines.  We can also offer this as a "white-label" contract service and will ship using unbranded cores and packaging.

Having worked with RF and RFID tags/inlays/elements for nearly 30 years we learnt a long time ago that static buildup in production can deactivate and "kill" these labels, so we have a very elaborate array of deionising anti-static equipment mounted at the key positions of the process, to ensure that all RF or RFID embedded labels leave our production unit in the state they arrive.
