Self-Adhesive Labels on Rolls — Plain, Printed, RFID & Security

UK-manufactured Novexx labels, direct from ALS

As ALS and Novexx Solutions are both part of the Possehl PID Group, we're licensed to manufacture Novexx labels here in the UK and supply them direct to you. That means high-quality printing and converting at very competitive prices — and the assurance they'll run reliably in your machine.

Poor quality labels are the number one cause of unplanned downtime on labelling lines. Misfeed, snapping, poor print registration and adhesion failure are almost always a consumables problem, not a machine problem. When you source labels from ALS, you get materials that are specified, tested and guaranteed to work reliably in your equipment — because we know your machines inside out.

We offer a wide range of label types, materials and adhesives to suit virtually any application, environment or industry. Not sure what you need? Our technical team will advise — and we'll send you a free sample roll to try before you commit.

Article:  What Is Die-Strike? And Why Your Label Supplier Matters

You expect your self-adhesive labels to run smoothly on your label applicator, but when they start snapping, tearing or causing downtime, the problem is often misunderstood. One of the most common hidden causes is something called die-strike.

Plain White Paper Labels

Our plain white paper labels suit everything from shipping and outer-case barcodes to GS1 pallet labels, product identification and basic ingredient labelling. They're bright white, die-cut and supplied on rolls, on dust-reduced paper that prolongs thermal print head life — and the high contrast gives you crisp barcodes that scan first time.

They run on all thermal transfer and direct thermal printers from the popular makes, including Avery, Datamax, Monarch, Novexx, Sato, TEC and Zebra.

Choose your roll size, core size and number of labels required per roll — or just tell us your printer make and model and leave the rest to us.

For the best results from your barcode printer — and fully GS1-compliant barcodes — you'll also need the right labelling software and thermal ribbons:  See our labelling software and thermal transfer ribbon pages.

RFID-Embedded Smart Labels

RFID-embedded labels — also called RFID tags or smart labels — contain a tiny Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip and antenna, allowing them to store and transmit data wirelessly using radio waves.

An RFID-embedded label typically has three parts:
1. Microchip (IC) – stores information such as a serial number, product ID or tracking data.
2. Antenna – sends and receives radio signals to and from an RFID reader.
3. Substrate or label material – the surface that holds the chip and antenna, usually paper or plastic, and which can also carry printed information or barcodes.

How it works
When an RFID reader sends out a radio signal, the antenna in the label receives it and the chip transmits its stored data back. This happens wirelessly and, unlike barcodes, often without direct line of sight. These labels need no battery or power source of their own — they're powered by the reader's signal, which is why they're known as passive RFID labels. That keeps their profile slim and ideal for use on most products.

At ALS we specialise in embedding ready-made RFID (and RF EAS) inlays from suppliers such as Avery Dennison and Checkpoint into custom-printed product labels, or into standard plain pallet and outer-case labels.

Common uses
- Inventory & supply chain management – track products from manufacture through to the retail shelf
- Asset tracking – monitor equipment, tools or vehicles
- Retail – manage stock, deter theft and speed up checkout
- Logistics & shipping – automate tracking of packages and pallets
- Healthcare – manage medical equipment, pharmaceuticals or patient wristbands

RF-embedded-Security-Seal-1

Security & Anti-Theft (EAS) Labels

Our tamper-evident security materials are built to show when something has been interfered with. Some break up if anyone tries to remove them; others leave a message such as "VOID" behind in the adhesive. Many carry covert features too — particles that glow under UV light to confirm authenticity, inks that change colour with temperature, or constructions that trigger an alert or track an item through the supply chain.

We also supply electronic anti-theft (EAS) labels for retail loss prevention, in both RF (radio-frequency, 8.2MHz) and AM (acousto-magnetic, 58kHz) formats to suit your store's detection system. Just as we embed RFID inlays (see the RFID tab), we can embed these EAS devices beneath a plain or custom-printed die-cut label — sometimes called self-seal tags — so the security element is completely hidden from view. We can overprint them with "Security Protected" or any other warning, deterring theft while keeping your shelf presentation clean.

Tell us your detection system and label requirements and we'll match the right format.

Tactile warning triangles are clear, raised equilateral triangles that can be felt by touch, alerting blind and partially sighted people that a product is hazardous before they open it. They're a legal requirement under CLP for many products supplied to the general public — common examples include household cleaners, bleaches, adhesives and e-liquids — and follow the recognised tactile danger-warning standard, EN ISO 11683.

We supply them in a range of sizes on clear round labels, with or without black registration marks on the backing so they feed reliably through automatic applicators. Because the triangle is clear, it can be applied over your existing artwork without obscuring it.

Not sure whether your product needs one, or which size suits your line? Ask us and we'll help.

Tactile Warning Triangles

Tactile warning triangles are clear, raised equilateral triangles that can be felt by touch, warning blind and partially sighted people that a product is hazardous before they open or handle it. The raised triangle is the internationally recognised symbol for danger by touch, defined by the standard EN ISO 11683.

They're a legal requirement under the CLP Regulation for many chemical products supplied to the general public — for example, those classified as toxic, corrosive or flammable. Everyday products that often carry one include household cleaners, bleach, drain and oven cleaners, white spirit, certain adhesives and e-liquids. Where the classification calls for it, the tactile warning must appear on the product's immediate packaging, so it's worth confirming your requirement early in your label design.

We supply the triangles in a range of sizes on clear round labels, with or without black registration marks on the backing so they feed reliably through automatic applicators. Because the carrier label is clear, the triangle can be applied over your existing artwork without covering or obscuring any of it.

Already have pre-printed labels or finished stock that now needs a tactile warning? Our contract labelling service can apply the triangles onto your pre-printed labels or products for you — a fast, accurate way to bring existing stock into compliance without reprinting or relabelling in-house. See our Contract Labelling page for details, or tell us what you have and we'll advise on the right size and the best way to apply it.

Digital-label-press-diagram2

Full Colour Digitally Printed

Digital printing produces photo-realistic, high-resolution labels without the print plates a conventional press needs. That removes most of the set-up cost, so it's economical for low- to mid-volume runs — and ideal when you have many product variants, frequent artwork changes or need variable data such as batch numbers or sequential codes.

We print on professional Xeikon presses, giving consistent colour across a wide range of paper and filmic substrates, with matt, gloss or specialist finishes. Turnaround is quick, which makes digital perfect for new-product trials, seasonal promotions, short-run versioning and getting to market fast.

Block-out-adhesive-label

Cover-up with Block-Out Adhesive

Cover-up labels pair a bright white printable face with a dark, opaque block-out adhesive that completely hides whatever it's applied over — even dark or busy artwork, old barcodes, prices or out-of-date information won't show through. Because the block-out layer is the adhesive itself, coverage is total and there's no shadowing.

They're ideal for correctional over-labelling, price changes, barcode corrections, revised regulatory or allergen information, rebranding and country-specific variants. Print them in-house by thermal transfer, or have us print them with your artwork in advance.

The strong permanent adhesive means the label can't easily be peeled or picked off to reveal what's underneath — so corrections stay corrected. Tell us your size and application and we'll recommend the right construction.
