ALS Syringe Labelling Machine
ALS designs and builds custom syringe labelling machines for the pharmaceutical and medical sectors. Each one applies a self-adhesive label cleanly around the circumference of small cylindrical products — pre-filled syringes, vials, and auto-injector pens and cartridges such as EpiPen, KwikPen and Penfill devices — handling diameters from 7mm to 50mm.
Products are carried horizontally to the XLS 204 labelling head on an indexing, free-running roller conveyor. A product-start signal triggers the head to dispense a label onto the circumference, and a top-mounted motorised wrap-around belt smooths (dresses) the label down as it's applied — for a crease-free wrap every time.
The XLS 204 head detects web-break, end-of-roll and missing-label conditions, stopping the line if any occur, and gives a visual low-label warning. A 3-way precision lead-screw with digital position indicators allows highly accurate height adjustment plus two angular adjustments of the head, so set-up and repeat jobs are quick and exact.
The machine runs in two modes: continuous-conveyor 'random apply', or in registration to a sensing mark on the product. It labels up to 100 products per minute in random apply, or 50 per minute in registration.
Beyond medical products, the same machine can be configured to label other small cylindrical items — batteries, sealant cartridges, cosmetics or pencils — making it a flexible platform wherever round products need accurate circumferential labelling.
Options include an in-feed hopper for automatic product loading and a vision system to verify the position of the applied label.
