“Green” Solvent Free Thermal Ribbons (actually they’re black!)

ARMOR has recently announced the launch of SolFree, a unique Solvent Free Process which the company claims will revolutionise the Thermal Transfer ribbon market.

Pioneer and leader in Thermal Transfer ribbon technology for more than 25 years, ARMOR has brought significant improvements to the development of barcode and variable information printing in the label industry; always improving ribbon formulations for maximum user friendliness and outstanding performance with consistent high quality, as demonstrated by the many ISO certifications successfully obtained over the past 15 years.

A commitment to both environmental preservation and people safety was recognized in 2006 by ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications. ARMOR is now presenting a tangible result of this commitment with the launch of the 1st solvent free process for Thermal Transfer ribbon: SolFree.

Traditionally TTR manufacturing uses solvents during the coating process. With ARMOR’s innovation, for the 1st time, a ribbon is coated without using solvents. Popular wax ribbons of the range will benefit from SolFree, keeping exactly the same printing performance you enjoy today. ARMOR has made significant investments in this revolutionary technology, in R&D and industrial equipment to ensure high production capacity to satisfy the demand for such products. As volumes for ARMOR SolFree products increases, the Carbon Footprint of the company will decrease.

This major step forward for the industry in environmental preservation, also represents a guarantee of long term availability of TTR, should local and/or international regulations impose some drastic regulations on solvent consumption at any time in the future.

ARMOR solvent free ribbon will also enable the label industry to meet the requirements of the increasing number of end-users committed to sustainable development as they will be able to select their supplies with environmental preservation concerns.  To download a spec sheet or buy AWR 470 thermal ribbon from ALS, click here to visit the ALS Store.
